01. Happy Fund

To be reborn a global food company customers can have faith in, we’ve tried to realize a transparent and righteous management, as through introducing and operating ethical standards and  CP (compliance program). We’ve also engaged in trust management in which external stakeholders can give faith to us, and carried out an environmental management, as through using environment-friendly packaging materials, reducing carbon emissions (ISO14001), preventing water pollution and saving energy. 
Especially, all employees and executives participated in an effort to pool so called “Happy Fund” on a voluntary basis. About KRW 270 million was collected as of the end of 2009 to make donations to aid disabled adolescents and asylums for orphans and old people; we supported 2 thousand boxes of ramyun and other products for the Dongjak Welfare Foundation and other social welfare facilities

02.  “Mr. Hong’s Appetizing Car” Program (MHAC Program)

We’ve operated “°Mr. Hong’s Appetizing Car” Program to aid social welfare facilities with ramyun and snacks. As part of the program to develop social contributions, we visited such facilities as day nurseries and local children welfare centers as many as 91 times in total as of the end of December, 2009, so that we may aid them with Mr. Hong’s Appetizing Car together with other products of ours.

03. Doongji Bank

Doongji Bank refers to a new social contribution program introduced since January in 2009. With the program, we’re contributed products corresponding to 4/1,000 of the amount of Hooroorook Noodle (a health food) sold, which, in turn, are contributed to the food banks of Korea National Council on Social Welfare spread nation-wide; actually, we supported 2 thousand boxes for local children welfare centers and multi-cultural families in the last July.

Since 2002, we’ve contributed our products to nationwide food banks to aid needy and socially-isolated neighbors, and, at the same time, realized the socially-efficient use of food resources. Our contributions total up to about KRW one billion as of December in 2009.

As part of our efforts to help solve social sufferings, we aided with 290 hundred bottles of Samdasoo (weighing 500 tonnes & corresponding to about KRW 200 million) Taebaek-si and Jeongseon-gu in Gangweon-do (where people had suffered from an extreme drought) in February, 2009, together with Jeju Development Corporation

We continued to engage in various activities, such as scholarship programs, through the foundations. We’ve annually contributed KRW 500 thousand to the Jeju Samdasoo & Nongshim Scholarship Foundation established in 2004, and plan to additionally contribute KRW 5 billion. It aims to make investments on the future generation by offering scholarships to high-school and university students in Jeju-do who do well on their academic achievements, including the children of low-income households. Youlchon Foundation established to raise competent human resources has devoted itself to projects for supporting academic and cultural activities and other researches, including educational support projects for adolescents that would implant love and passion in them. As of the end of December, 2009, the accumulated amount of monetary resources spent on these kinds of projects totaled up to more than KRW 10.7 billion. 
Also, we offered a donation of KRW 200 millions to live up to our belief in a love for neighbors and put share management into practice through participation in “Hope & Share Campaign 2010” conducted at the end of the year by the Community Chest of Korea.

To prevent an environmental pollution through collecting waste mobile phones for resources recycling, and thereby, enhance an environmental awareness, we conducted a “Campaign for Collection of Waste Mobile Phones” together with the Green Consumer Network in Korea (“GCNK”). In July, 2009, we delivered to the GCNK 1,850 waste mobile phones in total piled up before the head office, and freely presented participators in the campaign with Samdasoo. 
On top of that, we have tried to conduct environmental management, as through saving energy uses, preventing water pollution, removing bad smells, etc.

07 . Integrated Plan for Social Contribution Activities

To continuously conduct social contribution activities, we registered Nongshim SSC as a non-profit corporation, and thereby, have engaged in social contributions every year. For the purpose of this, an integrate plan for social contributions has been annually made. 
With this plan, 2,133 employees and executives conducts 16,201 hours of social services in 110 welfare facilities nationwide. Those social services include the provision of lunch for welfare facilities for old people and briquettes for low-income households, habitat house-building, gardening for Youngbo Jaaewon, etc
